Projects

Total Height Safety provides a wide range of Contracting Services, often in association with expert Training.
This register shows the variety of projects undertaken recently.

Vertical Static Line Installation

Vertical Static Line Installation CSIRO Narrabri

This project involved the installation of permanent vertical static line systems on seven radio telescopes in the Narrabri region of NSW. The static lines form part of a harness based fall protection system for the structures.

Tree Restraint Project 1

Tree Restraint Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney

This Bottle Tree (Brachychiton rupestris) had developed a problem lean and vertical split of the trunk. Our goal was to design a restraint system that supported the tree and prevented further splitting of the trunk.

Tree Restraint Project 2

Tree Restraint Wollstonecraft

This tree has a localised structural weakness in the junction of two major stems. High performance spliced fibre slings are installed to reduce the risk from a major structural failure. The system has built in energy absorbers and each sling has a rating of 16,400kg.

Rock removal works

This project involved the removal of hazardous rocks from rail cuttings using rock breakers and hand tools. Rope access provided an efficient and safe solution to this difficult access site.

Banner installation works

This project for Sydney Festival required the design and installation of a temporary art work banner over Circular Quay. The banner's size of 50m x 4m and the fact that the façade is heritage listed made for some interesting design and installation problem solving.

Removing Speakers

This project involved the removal of a number of large speakers from the roof structure of the Campbelltown stadium. Rope access provided an efficient and safe method of accessing the under roof speakers.

Tree frame installation

This interesting project for the City of Sydney revolved around tree stabilisation. THS designed and installed this tree support frame to blend with the existing park architecture. The tree species is a Dracaena draco (Dragon's Blood Tree).

Bridge works

This project involved the installation of access ladders and platforms on the rail bridge over the Hawkesbury River just north of Sydney. The steel erection works required rope access riggers and boiler makers with rail mounted truck cranes to lift the sections into place.

Tree removal works

This project involved the removal of vegetation from rail cuttings just north of Sydney. Rope access tree climbers used chainsaws and rigging equipment during this operation.

Tower Maintenance works

This project involved routine maintenance of the warning lights on this 230 metre high Sydney television transmission tower. This work requires staff to be trained in Height Safety, Tower Climbing and Rescue Techniques.

Tree Restraint works

This project involved the design and installation of a cable restraint system for one significant fig tree at Sydney Showground. The tree has a structural defect that required an engineering solution for its preservation. Tree restraint systems are one of our specialities.

Netting installation

This project involved the installation of golf ball protection netting. Industrial rope access provided a practical and efficient solution for this limited vehicle access site.

Tree Restraint Mona Vale

The preservation of this tree was possible with the installation of a non-invasive fibre rope restraint system. This special hollow braid rope is manufactured from Dyneema® SK-75 fiber and has a minimum breaking strength of 21600 Kg. The two stems will be supported should failure occur at ground level.
